Shining the light in the halls of Congress
"Grateful to have the One Nation movement and the Report."
~ Congresswoman Grace Meng (NY- 6)
"Thank you for the work, the One Nation Report, and the movement. I have AAPIs in my district -- this will connect them, please reach out so they can join the movement."
~ Congresswoman Deb Haaland (NM- 1)
"This is the report we need to make the convincing case. Not only the stories, but the facts and figures too. Yes, I can use this Report in my Town Halls!"
~ Congressman Andy Kim (NJ- 3)
Last month One Nation took action in Washington, D.C., and shined a light on the powerful and positive stories of immigrants. The One Nation Commission launched its Report in D.C. to garner media attention, influence policy makers, change laws, and move mountains. The stellar crew of One Nation Commissioners and Advisors represented with inherent expertise and gravitas, each with their own constituencies: corporate, labor, health care, academia, and grassroots advocates.
The Congressional Tri-Caucus co-hosted the Press Conference, led by Congresswoman Barbara Lee (CA-13), Congresswoman Judy Chu (CA-27), and Congressman Ruben Gallego (AZ-07). Held on a warm, sunny Tuesday outside at the Capitol House Triangle, the Press Conference served as the big reveal. At 11:00 am, the Commissioners lifted the embargo and handed out the hard copies of the report to the mainstream and ethnic media covering the event. One Nation and Congresswoman Lee live streamed it on Facebook.
That same afternoon, the One Nation Coalition Crew, including Thu Quach, Tenzin Kyizom, Mike Lok, Edward Tom, Cat Nou, Kathryn Powers, Liz Oseguera, and Hieu Le, hand delivered 100 Reports to Members of Congress.
We continue to push out the Report as a tool to make the convincing case, with facts, data, curated stories, and compelling imagery to shift the narrative, power up the pressure, and keep all eyes on Public Charge during the Federal Courts’ temporary injunction, and beyond.
